Form & Shape

Personal practice

Form & Shape

An ongoing artistic practice in graphite, acrylics, pencils, markers and shape studies. From realistic renderings to abstract interpretations, this collection celebrates the artistic process in its raw and refined states.

Everything starts with a sketch. This collection is about understanding form before technology, trusting the hand before the mouse, and seeing before solving.

Context

An ongoing personal practice started alongside engineering coursework. Each medium here was chosen to train a specific observational or visualization skill that transfers directly into product design work.

Approach

Graphite studies

Realistic rendering using graphite on smooth Bristol board. Studies of light and shadow across complex geometric and organic forms. The goal is not photorealism. It is understanding how values build volume.

Acrylic explorations

Acrylic on canvas, ranging from representational still-life studies to fully abstract color field experiments. Each piece is a study in composition, palette limitation, and gestural mark-making.

Marker & ink

Industrial design-style marker renderings using Copic markers, the standard language of product design sketching. These serve double duty: they train rapid visualization and document ideas that will become 3D models.

Shape studies

Pure form exploration on paper: positive/negative space, figure-ground relationships, and geometric transformations. This practice informs every product design decision that follows.

My role

Every piece in this collection is mine: conceived, executed, and photographed as part of an ongoing personal discipline alongside engineering and design coursework.
